Edward M. McElroy

Edward M. McElroy is the founding partner of the McElroy Law Group, A Professional Corporation.

Mr. McElroy has over 25 years of professional experience, specializing in all aspects of retirement planning for self-employed individuals and public and closely-held corporations and their owners. His expertise encompasses all aspects of planning, implementing, administering and terminating qualified retirement plans, welfare benefit plans, fringe benefit plans and nonqualified deferred compensation plans.

Mr. McElroy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. While an undergraduate, Mr. McElroy also attended the University of Vienna in Austria. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in Dallas, Texas. Mr. McElroy is licensed to practice law in Illinois and Rhode Island.

Upon graduation from law school, Mr. McElroy was offered an in-house position with a regional consulting firm where he advised clients on retirement planning opportunities.

Following this consulting position, Mr. McElroy moved to Chicago where he gained practical business experience as an in-house employee benefits attorney. He was responsible for providing employee benefit advice for corporate plans covering approximately 30,000 employees. This practical hands-on experience served Mr. McElroy well during his subsequent affiliation with several Chicago law firms, including Vedder, Price, Kaufman & Kammholz, P.C. and Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon, LLP. During his tenure in Chicago, Mr. McElroy was also a Manager in the Actuarial, Benefits and Compensation consulting practice of the international accounting firm of Ernst & Young, L.L.P.

In 2005, Mr. McElroy moved to San Diego to work at a boutique tax law firm where he was named the Director of the Pension Department. While there, Mr. McElroy was responsible for the establishment and continued maintenance of approximately 500 retirement plans. In addition, Mr. McElroy was also responsible for negotiating a comprehensive resolution program with the Internal Revenue Service ("IRS") with respect to clients that were under audit from the IRS. McElroy’s proactive and pragmatic approach in representing clients in these IRS audits usually resulted in favorable settlements.

Approximately 10 years ago, Mr. McElroy expanded the scope of his practice to include immigration law. Today, a substantial portion of his practice involves immigration work for individuals and businesses that are interested in moving to the U.S. With his background, Mr. McElroy is uniquely qualified to assist clients on immigration matters.

Mr. McElroy's practice is exclusively focused on all aspects of immigration law and retirement planning for high net individuals and corporate clients. His practice involves advising clients on complicated immigration issues and on effective tax-planning opportunities that allow high net worth individuals to maximize their retirement benefits.

Clients have benefitted from Mr. McElroy's wide range of law firm, corporate and consulting firm experience. He understands that clients' business situations are varied and unique and that they often require a tailored, individualized approach.

Yonghong Ying-McElroy

Yonghong Ying-McElroy is an of-counsel attorney at the McElroy Law Group.

Ms. McElroy has over 15 years of professional experience, specializing in all aspects of immigration law and international business law, with a primary focus on Chinese law. She is currently working with a number of our China-based clients on various immigration, business and educational planning opportunities.

She graduated with a law degree from Beijing International Law School. Upon graduation, Ms. McElroy was employed as an in-house corporate attorney at Sinotrans, a leading Chinese corporation involved in logistics. After working at Sinotrans for seven years, Ms. McElroy moved to the United States and received an LLM from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Ms. McElroy is also the President of KEM Educational Group, a San Diego-based educational and business consulting group that provides full-service consulting for Chinese individuals and businesses interested in moving to the United States.
